Eating out in Voorschoten

stacks_image_58La Casita

La Casita is located in the heart of the cozy Voorstraat and is primarily a tapas restaurant. Here you can eat tasty tapas for a fixed price and then still linger, because after dining hours La Casita turns into a kind of grand café. The prices are very reasonable and the service is friendly. On weekends reservations are required. Dogs are welcome.

Lunchroom Nayolie is the odd man out. Chef and owner Kelvin Lin has made his mark in the world of fine dining. He has sold his restaurant in Noord-Holland and wanted to take it a bit more relaxed. Hence a lunchroom. But make no mistake, even though you might just want to have a sandwich, everything is cooked to perfection, and your taste buds will be tested to the limit. It would not surprise me if this is the best lunch room in the Netherlands! Once a week, on Friday night, Kelvin is preparing a five course dinner. Sadly, a reservation is almost impossible because these dinners are fully booked more than a year in advance! Dogs are welcome.

vabeneRistorante Va Bene

Va Bene is a restaurant run by Sicilians and it is not surprising that the menu is based on Sicilian cuisine. But not exclusively, other Italian classics are here on the menu as well. At the end of the evenings, there is often live music which is performed by the friendly staff itself. It's always busy, especially at weekends, so reservations are necessary. Dogs are welcome.

Restaurant Allemansgeest is the most posh restaurant in Voorschoten. It is beautifully locatedd on the waterfront, near the boundary with Leiden. It's not cheap but the diners sit in level with a Michelin star. Service is friendly and professional. If you want to pamper yourself with some culinary highlights then Allemansgeest is the place to do it. Dogs are welcome.

Het Wapen van Voorschoten is more of a cafe than a restaurant. Here, for example, you eat a satay or a piece of meat, with chips and salad. It's always busy here. In the attached cafe it's busy until late, especially on weekends and during the jam sessions (about once a month), you can have a pleasant evening here. Dogs are welcome.

Restaurant De Knip is beautifully situated on the Vliet canal, on the south side of Voorschoten, near the city of Leidschendam. The restaurant is rated by the Michelin Guide with a Bib Gourmand, which means a great menu for a reasonable price. Dogs are not welcome.
